Manorbier Beach is often described as one of the most captivating spots in Wales.
With cliffs and dunes surrounding the sandy shoreline overlooked by Manorbier Castle, the panoramic landscape makes the area extremely popular with walkers and visitors alike.
Manorbier Bay is overlooked by St. James Church which dates back to the 12th century and the medieval Manorbier Castle. For history and archaeology lovers, the King’s Quoit, a Neolithic chambered tomb that also sits above the bay, is of particular interest.
The village of Manorbier and the surrounding areas offer plenty to see and do and is a picturesque place to spend the day away from the beach. The village provides a shop, tearoom, local pub and a bike hire centre.
A section of the famous 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coastal Path runs from Manorbier to Tenby and attracts many visitors.
Most people take the bus from Tenby to Manorbier and make their way along the Pembrokeshire coastal path, back to Tenby. You can see the walk HERE.
Enjoy water sports? You couldn't find a better beach, especially for surfing.
Surfing is the most popular pastime at Manorbier Beach; with a somewhat exposed beach with quite a consistent surf (although summer tends to be mainly flat), Manorbier has attracted surfers from around the country and even the world.
The Surf at Manorbier Beach is best in offshore winds from the northeast, with some shelter here from northwest winds. According to Surf Forcast, it tends to receive a mix of groundswells and wind swells, and the optimum swell angle is from the southwest. The Manorbier Beach break offers both left and right-hand waves, best around high tide. When the surf is high, crowds are likely. Beware of rips, crowds/rocks. The best time of year for surfing Manorbier with consistent, clean waves is during Winter and most often February.
Manorbier Beach is also an excellent location for various activities, including swimming, canoeing and fishing.
Rock pooling is also popular on this beach to spend the hours at low tide. And it is like a jewellery box for budding rock collectors, with many semiprecious stones to discover, such as Jasper, Jet and Quartz. The water and beach can get crowded in the summer months, so we suggested arriving early if you plan to participate in any watersports or activities.
