Monkstone Beach is a true hidden gem of a beach tucked neatly between Tenby and Saundersfoot

The beach is small, but it has a lot to offer in terms of natural beauty. The sand is white and the water is crystal clear. The beach is also very quiet and secluded, which makes it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Monkstone Beach

If you love spending time surrounded by natural beauty, Monkstone Beach is the perfect spot for you.

This beach completely disappears at high tide, leaving a huge selection of rocks and boulders to sit on. This is one of our favourite places to spend the day just watching the ebb and flow of the tide.

This beach can be accessed by the coastal path, and the beach via Saundersfoot and Glen Beach at low tide. The crucial cut-off point is just the other side of the headland. Please check our tide timetable to make sure you choose the right time to visit.

You can also park at the end of the lane at Trevayane Farm Caravan and Camping Park, where roadside parking is on the verge, just before the site entrance. Please note there is no parking at the farm itself, and remember to make sure you’re parked all on the same side, as this is a working farm, and you wouldn’t want your car being accidentally knocked by a tractor. Please note dogs need to be kept on a lead while walking through the farm.

Monkstone Beach

If you are making your way via Trevayne, walk through the farm towards the view of the sea and bear right into the Monkstone Touring caravan field. Here turn left and make your way through the gate and down the field. When you go through the gate at the end, you bear right down to the beach. Straight on only takes you to Monkstone point itself, with no access to the beach, but it offers spectacular views of Saundersfoot bay and Tenby.

You are greeted halfway down with a wooden bench under a natural arch created by a fallen tree, which is embellished with a love heart for those loving photo moments. This makes for a great stopping point when climbing back up after a day of exploring or playing on the beach.

Monkstone Beach

Monkstone Beach is a popular beach for rock pooling, with an abundance of naturally formed pools both at the Monkstone Point end and to the right around to Tenby. There is rope-only access up a large slab of rock at this side beyond a waterfall. We advise only using this if you get caught out by an incoming tide. You can only walk to Tenby on the beach on the lowest spring tides.
