Renowned the world over, a British pub is not just a place to have a drink. It is also a unique social centre, very often the focus of community life in villages, towns and cities throughout the length and breadth of the country.

Over the centuries traditional taverns and alehouses provided food and drink to their guests, whilst inns offered accommodation for weary travellers. We are now left with a collection of watering holes of exceptional diversity and history, Tenby and surrounding areas is no exception to this. Here is a selection of a few we think are worthy of a visit.

Twelve is a new, stylish wine bar and restaurant located in the food hub of Tenby – The Food Quarter on Upper Frog Street.

With a fine selection of wines and a varied menu to suit all tastes. This restaurant is the perfect place to stop for after work drinks, drinks with friends for a shared grazing plate supper as well as functions.

HARBWR Tap and Kitchen (formally the Buccaneer) serve a full range of beers brewed onsite at their HARBWR Brewery and Taproom, just at the bottom of the beer garden, along with a large variety of fine wines, gins and welsh spirits.

Their kitchen serves a wide range of culinary delights, from Welsh steaks, light lunches to locally caught fresh fish. 

They are a dog-friendly pub too, with plenty of seating in and outdoors. Be prepared for them to make more of a fuss of your dog than you, our mascot #jasperthecocker love the treats! 🙂

On the way back from a hard day at the beach, consider a visit to Tenby House Hotel with the family for a refreshing pint or a bite to eat in one of the bars or the beer garden is a must. 

Freshly prepared meals are available daily. Make sure you check out their specials boards for their fresh local seafood. They are only a stone’s throw from the harbour so always get the best catch.

The Billycan oozes character, the stylish and simple decor with a twist of modernity, adding to its charm. It has a great selection of craft ales, lagers with a wide range of wine and an extensive Gin list to suit all tastes.

A large menu choice all made from tasty, locally sourced produce, enough selection to make the tastebuds tingle. Offering guests a relaxed dining experience of lunch, evening meals. The Billycan has something for everyone.

The Sandbar and Cwlbox is a popular choice for locals and tourists because it offers a relaxed and casual dining experience that uses the best local ingredients and serves various beers, ciders and spirits sourced from independent producers.

Sandbar and Cŵlbox offer excellent independent beverages and a fantastic, fresh and, wherever possible local and free-range brunch and dinner menu.

The Normandie is a vibrant, modern bar with an urban feel and is a place for the ‘young at heart’, whatever age. The ambience, music and excellent choice of chilled beers and wines make it the place to be. 

There is also a Courtyard seating area at the rear of the Normandie, nestled between the ancient Town walls. Access is through the Town Walls on the South Parade. and via the main bar and lounge areas. Enjoy one of the sunniest, most sheltered beer gardens in Tenby for a drink.

The setting for this traditional pub couldn’t be better. Enjoy a meal or even just a quiet drink whilst taking in the superb sweeping views of Carmarthen Bay, either from their dining room or from their garden that extends right down to the beach.

On a lazy summer’s day, you just won’t want to leave! A range of real ales is on offer, together with bar snacks and evening meals. The inn is a favourite with families, and children get the same warm welcome for which the inn has become famed.

South Beach Bar and Grill is perfect for a summers day or night, right on Tenby’s south beach. It boasts stunning views across the beach to Caldey Island and Giltars Point. A perfect start/endpoint for walks of varying length.

The outdoor bar area catches the last bit of sun and warmth that touches Tenby, so a fabulous place to watch the sundown. Great selection of drinks, nibbles and lite bites all with excellent table service.
