If you are not already parked in Tenby, South Beach car park is great starting point for this short walk. With Salty’s beach bar and restaurant right on the beach, at the start/end of this walk, your will be well catered for upon your return.
There is nothing between the start and your return other than serene views. Take drinks and food and anything else you may need to sit and spend time relaxing.
South beach is a flat smooth curving beach heading off into the distance where it meets Giltar Point. With nothing but the sea on one side and sand dunes on the other, its easy fix on Giltar Point in the distance and slowly amble along with out a care in the world.
When you get to Giltar Point, you have a number of places to sit and relax and free your mind. A careful walk up onto Giltar Point will reward you with beautiful views over to Caldy Island. Be a little more adventurous, and careful, and scramble to the head of Giltar Point. Please note there are dangerous drops off Giltar Point so always be careful and consider your ability against the terrain you are on.
If you have taken food and drink, this is a perfect place sit and relax. It is one my favourites places round Tenby.
Follow your route back along the beach or weave your way back amongst the dunes, then take a well earned drink at Salty’s beach bar from where you can sit in comfort and retrace your entire walk. If your timings are right, Salty’s is the perfect spot to watch the sun set.
