GUEST POST
The Pembrokeshire coastline is one of the best in southwestern Wales and the pride of the United Kingdom as a whole. The innumerable historical and prehistoric sites dating back to the Neolithic period make it a tourist hotspot all year long.
Usually, with a lot of tourists comes skyrocketing prices for accommodation, entry, and travel. However, the good news is you don’t need to win the lottery to enjoy what Pembrokeshire has to offer. You can still visit this magnificent tourist destination on a shoestring budget and have the time of your life. Keep reading to find out how.
The most iconic feature of Pembrokeshire is its extensive coastline, which extends around 300km. You can never run out of coastal charm while in this area. What’s more, it is all free, meaning you can save that cash for another day.
What about all those jagged rocks and the fear of the unknown while exploring uncharted territory? Don’t worry. Someone already beat the path for you. Have a nice time soaking in the rugged coastline, turquoise water, and white beaches as you travel along the Coast Path for free.
With such a generous coastline, you can expect a never-ending beach. Again, you can spend your summer journeying alongside white sands and clear blue waters for next to nothing. From Saundersfoot, next to lively populated villages, to Traeth Llyfn Beach, which is away from civilisation, there is something for everyone.
Apart from the soft white sands, there are so many activities to engage your interest. You can leisurely swim, read a book, surf, or just walk along the grassy sand dunes of Freshwater West. The only costs you might incur are for drinks, meals, hiring wetsuits if you lack one, or paying for other facilities, which isn’t very much.
If you’ve been looking for a place teaming with a variety of wildlife to explore, but your budget has been a limiting factor, head to Pembrokeshire. You can find budget-friendly attractions here, starting with the Welsh Wildlife Centre. If you still have time to spare, you might want to include Cardigan’s Teifi Marshes.
All these areas boast a diverse selection of wildlife in their natural habitats. Think of the graceful wading birds, resident kingfishers spearing fresh fish with their beaks, and the barking of otters as they give their young ones swimming lessons.
And all this thrill is free in most areas, with very low entry fees for the rest. Remember to bring along a pair of binoculars for bird spotting.
All you have read so far is about nature, including the expansive coastline and the abundance of wildlife in every direction you turn. But have you met the residents? Do you know how friendly and lively they are? If you haven’t, add the “meet the people” tour to your travel itinerary, and you won’t regret it.
What better way to meet the locals than attending local events? Pembrokeshire Area has plenty of these all year round, and most of them are free. Think about culture celebrations in April held on Barley Saturday and Long Course Weekend for athletes in June. The locals also throng various free music festivals between August and November.
You don’t have to break the bank to visit this scenic destination. Pembrokeshire is one of the best pocket-friendly tourist destinations to tour all year round.
