Description

David JP Morgan is an artist living and working in the seaside town of Tenby, located on the Pembrokeshire coast West Wales.

Although having had no formal training as an artist David JP Morgan has always had an overriding passion to paint. Born and raised in Tenby, he went on to attend University in Cardiff, qualifying as an Architect and practising for many years both there and in London. In 1999 David returned to Pembrokeshire with his wife and son, to his present home “High Seas” where he combines painting with his profession as an Architect.

Much of Davids early work was in the medium of watercolour, however, he now reserves watercolour for sketching and for developing ideas. Finished works are now exclusively in oil as he finds the vibrancy of colour and the pure pleasure of applying and working the paint is a joy.

An increase in demand for David JP Morgan architectural watercolours led to an exhibition of paintings at the Coach House Gallery in Caerphilly where all the paintings exhibited were sold. Davids work has shown at various galleries and has featured a number of times at the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London.

Whilst David remains versatile with his subject matter and has gained a reputation in the subject of portraiture, his favourite inspiration is his hometown and in particular the harbour, boats and seasonal moods of the town.

You can find David JP Morgan's new gallery space located opposite Tudor Merchants House and Plantagenet House on Quay Hill, a medieval pedestrian lane in Tenby running from Tudor Square, down towards Tenby harbour.

The gallery holds a selection of original paintings and prints for sale.
